Last Thursday massive demonstration demanding justice for Fernando Báez Sosa, murdered a month ago in Villa Gesell, goes beyond – I believe – this tragic case in particular. In Argentina, we’ve been starving for justice for many years now. Most of us feel that there’s no punishment for criminals. They somehow manage to get away with it. Ours has become such a violent society lately, and the ones in charge of avoiding it don’t seem to care or are unable to do so.  The State is absent. The violent crime rate in our country keeps soaring, and nothing is done to try and at least lower it. And mind you: we’re paying for these people`s salaries, but to no avail. No use crying over spilt milk, though.  We keep losing our children’s lives and our own lives while those in charge of our security do nothing or not enough. “We are all Fernando”, true, but Fernando is dead, and he’s not the only one. We’re getting used to this awful state of things. We shouldn’t though…
